Motorists told to expect roadside work on the A351 Sandford Road in Wareham
4:00pm Thursday 7th February 2013 in News
MOTORISTS are being advised that verge clearance work will take place on the northern side of the A351 Sandford Road in Wareham next week.
Dorset County Council will be widening a 500m stretch of footpath, between Northmoor Way and Morden Road, to three metres in order to create a shared use footpath and cycleway. Later this year engineers will be consulting with residents about the continuation of the footpath/cycleway to Sandford Middle School.
The council is working towards linking existing cycleways in the area to create a route from Wareham to the Bakers Arms Roundabout and beyond.
This will give residents more travel choice for work, school and leisure.
The clearance work is taking place now to avoid the bird nesting season.
The cycle route is being funded by the Purbeck Transport Strategy, which aims to improve transport in Purbeck.
