Weymouth and Portland Louviers Society seeks members

A GROUP promoting Anglo-French relations is looking for new members.

And to support its recruitment drive, the Weymouth and Portland Louviers Society is holding a French-themed evening.

Weymouth and Portland has been twinned with the Normandy market town of Louviers since 1958.

Chairman Cath Irving said: “We want to attract some new members from Weymouth and Portland and we thought a jolly French cheese and wine evening would be a good introduction to the society.

“You don’t have to speak French, although it is helpful if you do.”

The French evening is on Saturday, February 9, from 7.30pm to 10pm at Southill Community Centre, Radipole Lane.

Wine and cheese will be provided and photographs of recent visits to and from Louviers will be shown. There is no charge for the evening and any resident interested in joining the group is welcome to attend to find out more.

An accordionist will set the mood with some French music and a video of the recent visit to Louviers by French President Francois Hollande will be shown.

Enquiries about the event or joining the society can be made to Cath Irving on 01305 786971.

As well as jollies to Louviers to no real benefit to Weymouth?

I really can't follow your thoughts on the above mail. It goes in both directions surely?

Yes but what is the real benefit to the taxpayers of Weymouth?
