1:30pm Friday 8th February 2013 in News
PEOPLE are being urged to March in March in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare.
The new walking event will be held on the Rodwell Trail on Thursday, March 21.
This is the first year that this walk has been organised, by Jakki Dickson-Smith and the Weymouth Squash and Fitness Centre.
The walk is 4.5 miles long, starting and finishing at the Weymouth Squash and Fitness Centre, and travelling along the scenic Rodwell Trail and back.
The event will be started at 11am by the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, Councillor Margaret Leicester.
The event is open to everyone, and Weldmar are asking walkers to ask for sponsorship in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare.
There is a registration fee of £8 for any walkers over 14 years old (under 14s are free). Included as part of this fee is a bottle of water and a cereal bar for the walk. After the walk there will be soup, a roll, cake and a cup of tea or coffee. Walkers will also receive a medal.
Mark Howlett, Community Fundraiser for Weldmar, said “This will be a lovely walk along the Rodwell Trail allowing people not only to experience the famous walk, but also raise funds for Weldmar Hospicecare”.
To register for the walk, please phone Mark Howlett on 01305 261800 or go to weld-hospice.org.uk/marchinmarch to register online.
