CRASH: Scene of the fatal collision
Floral tributes have been left at the scene of a crash which claimed the life of a young man from Poole.
The 19-year-old, named locally and on social networking sites as Mikey Maguire, died on Friday night after the car in which he was a passenger came off the road and struck a tree.
The fatal accident took place around 10pm in rural Huntick Road, close to the isolated entrance to Huntick Farm Caravan Park, Lytchett Matravers.
A silver Renault Clio driven by a 20-year-old man also from Poole, left the road on a bend and ploughed across the bank causing deep furrows in the mud.
The vehicle struck a tree causing the bark to splinter and tracks through the mud show it to have carried on, coming to rest lower down.
Firefighters from Poole were involved in releasing the victims from the car but unfortunately the teenage passenger died at the scene.
A police spokesman has appealed for witnesses to the accident which took place just over the boundary of Lytchett Matravers.
Huntick Road is a busy cut through between Lytchett Matravers and Poole and lower down has a series of bends to negotiate.
The driver of the car was released on police bail on Saturday pending further enquiries. “
Any witnesses to the collision or anyone with information relating to the collision or to the Renault Clio are asked to contact Dorset Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111,” said the spokesman.

No mention once again about the Ambulance Service who would have been responsible for the casualties. A Radio 2 programme just yesterday was discussing the 'differences' between the 3. Police and Amb get on well, Fire seem to be an entity of their own. Just wish they'd mention the fact Amb. crews work at keeping these victims alive without broadcasting their achievments. RIP feller

If the Ambulance Service reported every incident they attended (like the Fire Service seems to do), whether or not they actually did anything, the Echo would be a broadsheet paper with nothing else in it apart from Ambulance attendances!

Perhaps someone from the Echo should do a bit of "journalism" and take a look at the call volume facing Ambulance crews these days. It is not unusual for a crew to attend up to 10-12 emergencies per 12 hour shift. That's per crew, NOT per county.

The Police, Ambulance Service and the Fire & Rescue Service all do an incredible job but in situations like this they all attend - it's their job!
If you want your name in lights you should have joined the theatre. RIP.

However, the point being made is that the Fire Service seems to have a need to publicise their efforts. @Mrjon1, I understand your feelings but part of the report was that the Fire Service attended. A point was made by reporting this aspect that THEY attended. So why not simply report that the Ambulance Service also attended, treated the survivor, and took him to Poole Hospital? The Ambulance Paramedics also had to confirm that the victim was deceased at the scene.
