RUNNERS will be able to enjoy breathtaking scenery and one of Dorset’s iconic landmarks at a new event this summer.

The Giants Head Marathon promises to provide a challenging, hilly, off-road 26.2mile race from Sydling St Nicholas on Saturday June 29.

The route will see up to 200 runners pass through the Sydling and Cerne valleys as well as running round the world famous Cerne Giant.

The marathon starts at 9am and the Sydling Hill Race will see up to 400 entrants set off on a 10km trail at 10.30am. There will be refreshments and a hog roast available on the day and the Sydling WI will also be offering freshly baked cakes, teas and coffees.
