Oh my god, it's full of asteroids...

WEYMOUTH Astronomy Club is holding its annual open evening at 7.30pm on Friday – the same day that an asteroid will narrowly miss the Earth.

Near Earth Object 2012 DA14 will pass by at a mere 17,000 miles, a distance that is nearer than the Moon and many orbiting satellites. Weymouth Astronomy Club is inviting anyone with an interest in astronomy to its open evening at Upwey Village Hall.

The club also hopes to be able go out and view the passing asteroid. The evening will conclude with a talk on the formation of craters and a round-up of the next four weeks.
