Churches Together Lent lunches to help where need is great
4:30pm Tuesday 12th February 2013 in News
A SERIES of Lent Lunches are being held by Churches Together in Bridport and District for Christian Aid.
The churches have held the soup lunches for many years during Lent, which begins tomorrow, on Ash Wednesday.
A spokesman for Churches Together in Bridport and District said: “The annual Lent Lunches provide a timely reminder to look beyond our own needs towards the greater needs of the world, to enjoy some wholesome nourishment and to share in important conversations with like-minded people.
“The money raised will support the critical work of Christian Aid in the little-known places of the world but where the need is greater than ever before. We hope many people will want to join us on Friday lunch times.”
The first of this year’s series of Lent Lunches will be held in St Mary’s Church, South Street, Bridport, on Friday, February 15, at 12.30pm.
Lunches will be held each Friday during Lent and the hosts and venues will change week by week.
On February 22 the lunch takes place at Bridport United Church, East Street.
On March 1 it is at the Christian Fellowship, in the East Street car park hosted by Holy Trinity Bradpole.
