Police tell people to be on guard against doorstep callers
12:00pm Friday 15th February 2013 in News
POLICE are warning people to be on guard when dealing with doorstep callers in Dorset.
The call was made amid concerns about people cold calling in the Kings Stag and Longbourton areas of Dorset offering to resurface driveways.
A spokesman said: “It may be that these men will move into our area and I wish to remind everyone that it is important to get three quotes before employing tradesmen.
“If the price seems too good it probably is.”
He added that people should also look out for vulnerable neighbours and relatives who receive doorstep calls.
People are being urged to use the county council trading standards Buy with Confidence scheme when getting quotes from workmen.
Visit the county council’s website dorsetforyou.com/trading standards for more advice and information or call the police on 101 to report concerns.
