Abbotsbury Gardens shortlisted as plant trial venue

ABBOTSBURY Subtropical Gardens has been shortlisted as a possible venue to host plant trials.

The Dorset gardens were selected by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), which runs a number of trials grown from plants submitted by nurserymen, individuals and breeders.

Garden curator Stephen Griffith said: “Under the proposals, we would plan to plant the hydrangea as under planting in our Magnolia Walk, the biggest and most significant planting of magnolias in Great Britain.

“The magnolias flower in March, but the hydrangea will be in bloom through July.”
