Commercial vehicle owners put on alert after van is broken into in Dorchester
12:00pm Tuesday 19th February 2013 in News
OWNERS of commercial vehicles have been put on alert after a van was broke into in Dorchester.
A witness reported a van being broken into in Cambridge Road in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Deputy Inspector at Dorchester police station Steve Foot said two men were seen breaking into the vehicle by smashing rear windows at around 1.45am and the arrests were made a short time later following a police search.
He added: “Commercial type vans and trade vehicles are quite susceptible.
“If people are out there looking for power tools, the key message is for builders and trades people to mark their power tools appropriately.
“We would also say to anyone buying power tools to make a note of the serial numbers so we can record them and make checks.”
Police arrested two local men in Dorchester aged 21 and 22 who are helping police with their enquiries.
