DORSET’S celebrity chefs are throwing their weight behind a Red Nose Day campaign to get Britain cooking.

As part of the annual Comic Relief fundraiser celebrity chefs have been encouraging people to get in the kitchen and cook up a storm using the new Emma Bridgewater range for Red Nose Day 2013, which is available from HomeSense stores nationwide.

Ten top chefs, including Dorset’s Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Valentine Warner, helped to launch the campaign and encouraged the Great British public to ‘Do something funny for money’.

The range includes six different mug designs, two tea towels and apron designs, an oven glove and a bag for life.

One of the tea towels reads: ‘What do you call a fast cake? Scone.’ While one apron reads: ‘Wear only this for Comic Relief.’ The money raised from sales of the products will be spent by Comic Relief to help people living tough lives across Africa and here in the UK.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Red Nose Day which has raised more than £600 million and helped to change lives both at home and abroad.

The chefs got together to launch the range and inspired to ‘do something funny,’ used the new range to dress up, put bags on their heads or used the mugs as ears.

River Cottage’s Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall posed with a jam cake heart and a mug while Valentine Warner posed with an oven-glove over his head and apron.

Red Nose Day takes place this year on Friday March 15.

Valentine Warner, who grew up near Bridport, said the products were for a ‘great cause.’ He said: “By purchasing these lovely Emma Bridgewater Red Nose Day products you’ll be doing your bit to help raise millions of pounds to help people who need it most in this country and Africa, and that is a really important thing.

“I urge everyone to go out and buy a bag for life and a mug and some oven gloves - No, in fact, buy one for yourself and one for all your family and your friends, too.

“Let’s raise as much money as we possibly can for this great cause.”

Ten chefs are taking part including Raymond Blanc, Antonio Carluccio, Angela Hartnett, Michael Caines, Allegra McEvedy, Glynn Purnell, Aktar Islam and Monica Galetti.
