POETIC people are invited to share their own work or their favourite piece and enjoy a cream tea at an event in Dorchester this weekend.

The Dorchester and South Dorset Local Exchange Trading System (LETS) is holding a poetry and cream tea event on Sunday at The Old Tea House in High West Street from 3pm.

The event, which will be held in the upstairs room of the Tea House, is open to LETS members as well as the general public and offers the chance to enjoy poems over a cream tea.

Local writer and poet Louisa Adjoa Parker, who is a LETS member, will support the event that has a theme of love, family and relationships. Those attending are asked to bring along their own poem or a favourite by another order to share.

The event will also offer non-members a chance to find out more about the LETS scheme.

It is a local exchange trading system that enables people to swap goods and services without using money.

LETS member Jenny Eddison said: “LETS greatly widens lists of friends and ‘neighbours’ that can be called on in case of need.”

Anyone wishing to book a place at the poetry and cream tea event can contact Sally Cooke on 01305 267758 or email salcooke1@ gmail.com People can also just turn up on the day, with entry costing two Marts for LETS members or £2 for non-members.
