Bridport youngsters ready to take on Prince's Trust challenge

Buckets and sponges were at the ready for the start of a big challenge for a group of young Prince’s Trust volunteers in Bridport.

To mark the start of the first Dorset Fire and Rescue Service Prince’s Trust programme in West Dorset, the Bridport team cleaned up with a car wash at the town’s fire station which raised £315.

Princes Trust team manager for DFRS, Marie-Clare Nicholson said: “The scheme enables 16 to 25-year-olds not currently in employment, education and training, or facing a variety of challenges.

“Part of the 12-week programme is to actively organise and plan a community project which meets an identified need within the local community and which will also have a long lasting and positive impact.”

The Bridport team has chosen to work closely with the Fisherman’s Arms Day centre in Bridport.

The day centre is a facility used to help develop and build independent living skills, enable independent access to the local community and enable their service
