Out of the Blue course to help out mothers
5:30pm Thursday 28th February 2013 in News
A COURSE in Dorchester will help mothers deal with the emotional challenges that arise out of being a parent.
The six-week Out of the Blue course at the Dorchester Children’s Centre starts with a session from 10am to 11.30am on Wednesday, March 6.
It is open to women who are either pregnant or have a child under three years old and who feel they are struggling emotionally with the challenges of being a mum.
The sessions aim to help mothers overcome unhelpful thoughts and feelings and give them coping mechanisms to deal with stress, worry and low mood.
Sarah Battersby, women’s mental health development worker for Dorset HealtchCare, said: “As a mum of three young children, I know how tough being a parent can be.
“The Out of the Blue course gives mums the tools to help them deal with more challenging times.”
Another course is also being run from the Bridport Children’s Centre from Tuesday, March 5.
Women who feel they may benefit from the course can be referred by their midwife, health visitor or Children’s Centre worker.
