Mental health worker Symon West on fraud charges

A mental health support worker for Dorset County Council has appeared in court charged with fraud of more than £4,500 by abusing his position.

Symon James West, of Teal Avenue Chickerell, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates Court charged with two counts of fraud by false representation and one of fraud by abuse of position.

The 51-year-old is accused of stealing a total of £4,649 between January 2009 and June last year by abusing his position as a Community Mental Health Team support worker at the council.

He is also accused of selling items to raise money for charity with the intention of making a financial gain for himself between January and August last year to the value of £108.

West was released on unconditional bail and ordered to appear at Weymouth Magistrates Court on March 12.
