Credit union centre scheme for Beaminster
2:00pm Friday 1st March 2013 in News
Plans are afoot to set up a credit union service centre in Beaminster.
The Yarn Barton Community Centre in Fleet Street is working with the First Dorset Credit Union, supported by the Beaminster and Villages Local Area Partnership (BAVLAP).
“We have contacted the FDCU with a view to setting up a service centre here in Beaminster,” said Yarn Barton co-ordinator Sally Samuel.
“We hope to open one day a week for a two hour session.
“The FDCU is a community-based organisation staffed by volunteers and provides members with a safe and ethical place to save and with affordable loans.”
The centre is looking for volunteers who are good with figures to help.
A coffee morning is planned at Yarn Barton on Friday, March 22 from 10am to noon for people to find out more about credit unions.
“People are welcome to call in for a chat or contact us on 01308 862715,” added Sally.
