Volunteers collecting for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal

VOLUNTEERS will be out on Portland collecting for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal.

The appeal encourages everyone to give a donation and wear the charity’s iconic daffodil pin during March.

Every £20 raised will to help to fund an hour of Marie Curie nursing care, which is provided free of charge to more than 600 people with terminal cancer and other illnesses every year in their own homes in Dorset.

Weymouth and Portland Lions Club members will support the appeal this year by collecting donations on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at Tesco in Easton.

Dave Woolford, Secretary of Weymouth and Portland Lions Club said: “Caring for local communities is the essence of what Lions Clubs are about, so this partnership with Marie Curie is the perfect match.

“We are looking forward to collecting donations for the Great Daffodil Appeal in Portland and are proud that the funds we raise will support local people with a terminal illness.”

Marie Curie is also looking for people who have an hour or two to spare and can collect for the appeal in the Weymouth area.
