POLICE are appealing for witnesses after vandals smashed up eight cars in Weymouth.

A number of vehicles parked on Hillcrest Road, Wyke Regis, were damaged in a spate of vandalism during the early hours of this morning.

One car had its windscreen smashed and the rest had their wing mirrors broken off.

Inspector Les Fry of Dorset Police said the damage has caused significant inconvenience and cost to the vehicle owners and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

He said: “A number of vehicles were damaged, at least eight and possibly nine.

“One had a broken windscreen and the rest had broken wing mirrors.

“The incident happened at around 2am this morning near the junction of Hillcrest Road and Southdown Road.

“We believe there maybe witnesses to this incident and would appeal for anyone with information to contact the police."

He added: “This has caused significant inconvenience to owners with a damaged car.

“The cost to replace or repair is not always met by insurance due to excess.

“We would like to do everything we can to apprehend these offenders and bring them to justice and provide compensation for the victims.”

Anyone with information can call Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 22 of March 6.

Must have been the 'Moor kids.
All of us DE readers know that when any such amusements occur in Westham, Lodmoor, Southill & Preston the perperators are certainly from Littlemoor.
Nice to see them venturing South of Cash Generator for a change.

Really? I would say you are scum. Who do you think you are to tar all 'moor' kids as vandals? How dare you. What chance do you think these kids think have in life when they are classed as scum just for living on littlemoor? And I'm talking about the innocent kids here, not the vandals causing these crimes, whose to say they are kids to start with? I hope for your sake you never fall from your ivory tower.

It's sad, but clearly the time has come for dumbing down my comments for the benefit of my fellow Moorians.
