Police chiefs gather to plan co-operation

Police and crime commissioners and chief constables for the south west met for the first time, to discuss ways of co-operating across the region.

The meeting, at Winfrith, was hosted by Dorset’s Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill.

Speaking after the meeting Martyn Underhill said: “This was a really useful joint meeting of PCCs and chief constables.

“This builds on our first ever PCCs meeting which took place just after we were elected.

“We discussed exploring collaborative working in relation to forensic submissions and other areas we are currently exploring, to improve efficiency and effectiveness to our public.

“It was also an opportunity to discuss recent government proposals in relation to the probation service and police complaints.”
