Dorset Police are tracking down every owner of a make of car
11:00am Saturday 9th March 2013 in News By James Tourgout
POLICE are visiting every owner of a make of car believed to be involved in a collision in which a teenage girl was killed.
Sixteen-year-old Jade Clark was struck by a Volvo XC90 as she rode her scooter on the A31 near Ashley Heath at 8.23pm on Sunday 24 February.
Police said that the driver of a Volvo XC90 failed to stop at the scene of the collision.
They said they are searching for a light coloured Volvo XC90 registered between 2003 and 2007. This will include vehicles with 52 to 57 plates and also those with personalised registrations.
Officers have begun visiting all registered keepers of Volvo XC90s and more than 300 vehicles in six counties have now been eliminated from the enquiries.
The case is now a joint investigation between the force’s major crime investigation team and the traffic department.
Speaking directly to the motorist, DI Marcus Hester, of MCIT, said: “If you own or use such a Volvo XC90 we will be coming to visit you.
“I’m directly appealing for the person who failed to stop to come forward and help me with the investigation.”
DI Hester added: “If you know anything about where this car is or who may have been driving it, please call us.
“I am appealing to the public to search their conscience – someone clearly knows where this Volvo is. Do you know a neighbour, friend or colleague who uses an XC90? Has it suddenly disappeared?”
Churchill Retirement Living, a company based in Hampshire, is offering a reward of £4,000 for information leading to the arr-est and charge of an offender.
The Crimestoppers charity is offering an additional £1,000 reward.
Call Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 24:393 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Is this a new division of the police service along with the 'No excuse' department?
