BEER TODAY: Owner Paul Walker, of Hunters Brewery which will be giving away 50 bottles of beer at the Foodie Show Dorset
VISITORS to a new food themed show coming to Dorchester could walk away with a lot more than they bargained for.
A series of giveaways are being planned for the Foodie Show Dorset, which is coming to the county town’s football ground from May 10 to May 12.
Punters could help themselves to 50 bottles of beer or a £1,000 hog roast if they take part in one of a number of competitions being run at the Dorset Echo-backed show.
Hunters Brewery are giving anyone who buys a round of drinks at the show a chance to leave their name and phone number at their stand and on the final day one lucky winner will be chosen and told they are to receive a bulk delivery of 50 bottles of beer.
Another competition will see anyone who likes Dorset Catering Services’ Facebook page or fills in their name at their stand at the show go into a draw.
Dorset Catering Services will cook and provide a hog roast for whoever is drawn out of the hat.
There has already been one lucky prize recipient with Sarah Marshall from Blandford winning a two-night stay at the bespoke Grosvenor Hotel in Shaftesbury through the show’s Facebook site.
There will be a range of other chances to win or sample fine local and exotic produce with 150 stalls setting up at the event.
Organiser Joe Wahnon added: “There will also be some free goodie bags and free cook books to give away at the show.”
Top chefs will also be dropping into the venue to provide demonstrations, with French cook Jean-Christophe Novelli topping the bill.
Others on show include Dorchester’s own Russell Brown of the Sienna restaurant, television chefs Mark Lloyd and Romy Gill and ‘the beer chef’ Richard Fox.
There will also be a range of activities on offer and a dedicated crafters marquee where renowned expert Debbie Moore will be stationed.
Youngsters can be kept entertained with face painting, a Punch and Judy show and other children’s activities on offer.
Keeping with the family theme, the event has been sponsored by the South West Baby Show, which will be held at The Pavilion in Bournemouth in June.
There are just a few stands left to be booked for the Foodie Show, with anyone interested asked to contact Mr Wahnon on 01305 835112 or 07967 226876 or emailjoey@randjsales.fsnet.co.uk.
Mr Wahnon also urged people to book their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
They are available from Tourist Information Centres across Dorset or by calling the ticket hotline on 0844 858 9068.
