Race night in the saddle for Help a Friend fund
4:30pm Wednesday 13th March 2013 in News
A RACE night will be held at Weymouth Football Club to raise funds for charity.
It will boost funds before Jaime Burton and friends climb Mount Kilimanjaro next year for the Help a Friend fund.
The charity is dedicated to making the lives of people who are in serious need of financial help in the Dorchester area, due to serious illness and other unforeseen medical, life-threatening or family crisis, that little bit easier.
Each race will see six model horses, each controlled by a race master using dice, compete.
The horses will be auctioned off and the cost of each split between the winner’s pot and the charity itself.
Mr Burton said: “The race master controls the race with two dice, a six sided dice and another with six colours, this determines which jockey moves and how many squares. “First horse across the line wins, the horse owner and winning totes receive their share in the prize fund.”
He added: “It is a fun filled family event with a chance for a drink or two.”
All are welcome to attend the event on Saturday at 7.30pm.
