LEADERS: Joe Hennessy and Harry Williams
TWO apprentices from Weymouth College got the chance to get involved in the Olympic Games through their course.
Harry Williams, 20, and Joe Hennessy, 19, are undertaking the NVQ level two in activity leadership and Harry is based at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy and Joe is undertaking his apprenticeship at the Outdoor Adventure Academy.
Joe said: “One of the highlights, whilst working for the college, was teaching sailing to members of the public at the live site during the Olympic Games, as well as other activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking.”
Harry decided to do an apprenticeship because it gave him the opportunity to carry on training whilst earning money.
He said: “I have had great support from the outdoor team and we have also been supported by Weymouth College departments.”
He added: “I have really enjoyed my time as an apprentice. The course has inspired me and the experience and knowledge I have gained has set me up perfectly for a career in the outdoor industry.”
