A THATCHED cottage in North Dorset was destroyed by a raging fire last night.

More than 40 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze which engulfed a property at Minchington, north of Blandford.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service sent eight fire engines to the scene plus specialist vehicles. The Red Cross support vehicle was also sent to aid people affected by the blaze.
