YOUNGSTERS are setting their sights on fun at the second annual Lodmoor Ahoy!
The Friends of Lodmoor Country Park are hosting the extravaganza on Saturday April 6 from 1pm to 3.30pm.
There will be a host of events and activities in the park on the fun day.
Friends of Lodmoor Country committee member Dinah Ellis said: “We hope lots of families will come along to enjoy themselves, try out some new skills and learn about the park’s features.”
This free family fun afternoon will offer children accompanied by adults a choice of simple activities designed to get them out exploring the park and enjoying themselves in the open air.
A gazebo, lent by Tricia and Ray Bishop at Weymouth Pitch and Putt, will be set up in the children’s play area beside the wooden pirate galleon.
Members of the Friends will also be on hand to guide everyone through the activities.
The Easter Bunny will have left some chocolate treats to reward children playing a Hunt the Bunny game.
This year there will also be a new Find Lodmoor Bear challenge as well as prizes in a free raffle.
The Friends of Lodmoor Country Park was formed in 2008 to help boost the area and draw more families to use it.
The volunteers have held a host of events and have worked with the council to improve the park and bolster facilities.
A new pirate ship playground and open aid gym have opened.
There have also been such activities as feed the birds days, litter picks and bluebell planting.
Volunteers from the friends group also hold a Sparkle in the Park every year.
People are invited to make sparkly decorations and jam jar lanterns, and head for the park at twilight.

Organisers said that booking is not essential, but it is advisable.
