TRAVEL: Road closed after serious car accident on the A354 between Weymouth and Dorchester

A SERIOUS car accident on the A354 has closed the road during rush hour traffic.

The incident occured a short time ago between the A35 and Icen Lane.

The road is reportedly closed heading towards Weymouth.

Dorset Police said that the crash happened just before 5pm and involved a white Fiat Scudo van and a blue Fiat Punto.

A road closure has been put in place at the Tesco roundabout and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and ambulance service are on scene.

Only two people are involved- the drivers of the two vehicles and the female driver has 'possible injuries' according to Dorset Police.

Police advise the road is likely to remain closed for some time due to the serious nature of the accident. No official diversion route has been implemented at this time.
