There will be a spring in the step of West Dorset foodies later this month as a food fair tickles their tastebuds.

Washingpool Farm Shop, just outside Bridport, is hosting its Spring Food Fair this Sunday.

Following a successful event last year, organisers have been planning a programme with a fresh look.

“The aim is to make this fair look and feel fresh so that customers know they will find something new and a little different,” said Simon Holland of Washing-pool Farm.

“This very much fits with the ethos at Washingpool, supporting the best and most creative local producers.

“Our Spring Food Fair last year was a fantastic day and we had customers of all ages interested in where our food comes from.

“We have several different and new producers coming this year.

“It’s great for everyone that they are able to give their time to speak directly with our customers.”

There will be many local food producers at the fair, providing the opportunity to try products and talk to the people behind the brands, from nationally known names to one-man bands such as Maya Pieris of Four Seasons Preserves, who will be giving a demonstration.

Other producers include Rookbeare Farm with a new pistachio ice cream, Art Brew showcasing rare beers and new for 2013, Samphire Foods’ sauces.

The Farm is a family business, founded more than 40 years ago.

The day at Washingpool on the Dottery Road, North Allington, will run from 10am to 3pm.
