LOCAL artists made an impression on visitors at a popular art exhibition.

Around 15 artists displayed their work at the Royal Manor Workshops art exhibition at Easton Methodist Church on Portland.

The artwork was a mixture of landscapes, seascapes and figure and animal paintings, organiser Vi Winter said.

She added: “We had a constant flow of people coming through the doors.

“Most of the paintings were done by the Weymouth Art Group and a few of them were done by Portland people.

“My favourite was done by John Balston and was a landscape called ‘Autumn Straw’ featuring a couple walking through a wood.

“We had some voting slips and everyone seemed to go for that picture.”

Five of the paintings were sold and 15 per cent of the sale price went to the Royal Manor Workshops.

Mrs Winter will be overseeing two exhibitions this summer – a Portland Camera Club exhibition and Art in the Park.
