THE doors of the Marine Theatre had to be closed briefly as hundreds packed into Lyme Regis Beer Fes-tival.

Organisers said the theatre reached capacity at one point, with more than 500 people across the whole day.

The third annual festival featured 21 ales from the organising breweries, Lyme-based Mighty Hop Brewery and Town Mill Brewery and Chideock-based Art Brew, and nine ciders from the region.

Mark Jenkin, from Mighty Hop Brewery, said: “This year’s festival was terrific. We did have some misgivings because of the weather, wondering if it was going to stop people coming to Lyme Regis, but it was very well attended and it was Easter Saturday so I think that helped.

“People did come, th-ey wrapped up warm and had a terrific time.

“At one point we had to shut the doors bec- ause we were up to the capacity of the Marine Theatre.

“We love the theatre because of the view and the area outside when the weather is appropriate and the team at the Marine Theatre are very good at making the little things work.”
