STRONG winds caused problems on East Lancashire’s roads during this morning’s rush hour.
A yellow alert warning is currently in place in North West England, with gusts of up to 65mph expected in some places.
The wind caused a tree to fall into the road in Whins Lane, Simonstone, meaning cars could not get past.
It was expected the road would remain shut until later today when council workers manage to remove the tree.
Forecasters predict the wind should ‘slowly moderate’ throughout the morning.
