ADVANCE tickets are now on sale for the popular Museums at Night event in Dorchester.

On Saturday May 18 an £8 ticket will allow a family to visit eight heritage attractions in the county town.

A new addition for 2013 will see Thomas Hardy’s former home at Max Gate open from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

As usual the Dorset County Museum, the Keep Military Museum, the Tutankhamun Exhibition, the Dinosaur Museum, the Teddy Bear Museum, the Terracotta Warriors Museum and the Roman Town House will be open from 5pm to 9pm.

Tim Batty, from World Heritage Museums and Exhibitions, said: “Dorchester has a cornucopia of museums and attractions to surprise and delight any visitor.

“They focus on a fantastic range of topics and themes from Romans to Tutankhamun, from teddy bears to Thomas Hardy, from Dorset’s military history to the terracotta army and from dinosaurs to Dorchester’s history in all its forms.

“Museums at Night promises to be a very special night offering families and individuals an unrivalled opportunity to explore, discover and enjoy.”

Tickets are on sale from the participating museums, Max Gate and Dorchester’s Tourist Information Centre in Antelope Walk.

They also can be purchased on the night for £12.
