MOZART comes to Street in a link-up with the world-famous Glyndebourne Opera Festival.

For opera buffs, a screening of the acclaimed The Marriage of Figaro at Strode Theatre will be held on Wednesday, July 10, at 7pm.

A celebration of opera of the highest-calibre,the renowned Glyndebourne Festival was established in Lewes, East Sussex by enthusiastic husbandand-wife team John Christie and Audrey Mildmay in 1934.

The founders wanted to create an opera hub that showcased "not just the best we can do but the best that can be done anywhere" in the world of opera.

Mozart's "exquisitely beautiful" music takes you through the predicament of Figaro and his beloved Susanna, who are forced to rely on their wits in a household where they are members of staff in thrallto a master with no moral compass and low levels of boredom.

The opera follows the couple's plight along the course of one mad day, in a performance jam-packed with twists, turns and disguises.

Tickets for The Marriage of Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), a recorded performance from Glyndebourne Opera Festival, cost £15 or £13 for concessions.
