WEYMOUTH Sailing Club members are cock-a-hoop after wresting back the Bussells Cup from Parkstone Yacht Club last Saturday, writes Steve Dadd.
The trophy which dates back to 1926 was put up by WL Bussell of Weymouth for inter-port racing and was last challenged for in 1989.
Six Merlin Rockets, three from each team, were crewed by members from both clubs.
Sam Pascoe, brother of Paralympic sailor Megan, teamed up with 16-year-old Sam Mottishead and won all three races.
Penny and Mike Fenwick, along with Mike and Robin Clifton Dey, put in strong performances to ensure a three races to nil defeat of Parkstone.
Parkstone commodore Dick Linford presented the trophy back to Weymouth commodore Kathy Claydon. Both teams then sat down to enjoy a meal together.
Members of the Parkstone team were presented with bottles of the Weymouth 1913 centenary ale to commemorate their visit to WSC in their centenary year.
