3:00pm Thursday 15th August 2013 in News
OSPREY Leisure Centre will celebrate its part in the legacy of the Olympic Games by offering free gym sessions.
Many more communities are now set to benefit from the hugely popular fund, after Sport England announced that it was extending Inspired Facilities until 2017, with an additional £40 million of National Lottery funding to invest.
Osprey Leisure Centre is one of well over 300 projects across England receiving lottery investment from the fourth round of the Inspired Facilities fund and one of more than 1,300 to benefit overall. To celebrate the Centre’s part in the legacy of the Games, local children aged between 11 and 15 are being invited to a free taster session at 3.45pm next Monday to try out its new gym equipment.
Supervisor Aarron Riley said: “Our facilities are superb now, match our customer requirements and the improvements have really helped us to attract more people to the Leisure Centre.
“We really want to thank Sport England and the National Lottery for the investment..”
Sport England’s chairman Nick Bitel, said: “A year on from the Olympics, this National Lottery investment is helping us deliver a lasting sporting legacy in Portland.”
Bids will be accepted for the next round of Inspired Facilities funding from October 21. You can find out more atsportengland.org/inspiredfacilities.
