FORMER Weymouth schoolgirl Perrie Edwards IS set to wed pop star boyfriend Zayn Malik of One Direction.

The Little Mix star wore the three-stone diamond engagement ring for the first time at the premier of the One Direction film This Is Us at Leicester Square in London last night.

Perrie’s mum Debbie Dufty confirmed to the Dorset Echo today that the pair were engaged.

She said: It's official. I'm over the moon. They are really in love.”

She said Perrie was absolutely thrilled but hadn't wanted to make the engagement official just yet as last night's premier was all about Zayn and the boys.

No date has yet been set for the big day.

Perrie had been hoping to make it down for Weymouth Carnival but wasn't able to due to the band's busy schedule.

Perrie shot to fame after appearing on the X Factor with Little Mix. She attended Radipole Primary School when she lived in Weymouth as a girl.

Some of her family still live in the town.

Perrie and Zayn are regular visitors to Weymouth and Zayn recently had a tattoo at Tattoo Magic in the town.

Tattooist Paul O’Connor drew a wolf and feathers design on the leg of the heartthrob Perrie by his side.

The ink design, stretching the length of Zayn’s lower left leg, took around two hours to complete.

Weymouth’s Ian Gill was also asked to make Perrie a birthday cake.

Ian, of Arty Party Cakes in Dorchester Road, created the colourful cake for the Little Mix band member on her 20th birthday last month.

The psychedelic confection became an internet sensation after Perrie Tweeted a picture of herself with it to her three-and-a-half million followers thanking her mum Debbie, who ordered the cake for her, and Arty Party Cakes.
