SHOPPERS will be asked to give generously when Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Ray Banham supports a collection day for good causes.
Coun Banham’s chosen charities for the year are the Weymouth and Portland divisions of St John Ambulance and CLIC Sargent supporting children and young people with cancer.
He will be out with local representatives in Weymouth town centre asking people to make a donation towards the organisations.
Coun Banham will be in Debenhams square in New Bond Street all day this Saturday, August 31 and September 28. He will also be manning a charity stall on the seafront next Tuesday.
Coun Banham said: “I would ask people to give generously and support these two charities which rely on donations from the public to keep going. They are two causes close to my heart.”
