Crowds flock to win bit part in Far From the Madding Crowd film
DURNOVARIANS got the chance to appear in a fictional tale by the town’s most famous resident.
Around 350 people turned out to the castings in Bridport earlier this month and 200 hopefuls have emailed their details to the production team since.
The film crew is still hoping to sign up more ‘rustic’ looking locals to appear as extras.
Assistant director Guy Campbell said: “We’re looking for real, authentic, rustic looking people.
“We need men with natural hair and beards and natural looking women.”
Mr Campbell said there may be more castings, depending on how the day went.
He added: “We’re going into production soon, which is very exciting.
“We decided to have this casting today because we’re hoping to get people before they go off on their bank holiday weekend.
“People can still email a clear photo of themselves and contact details to us.”
Mr Campbell previously told the Echo that up to 1,000 extras would be needed for the film.
The film will star actress Carey Mulligan, who recently played Daisy Buchanan in the Baz Luhrman production of The Great Gatsby, as Bath-sheba.
She will be joined by Tom Sturridge as Troy and Matthias Schoenaerts as Gabriel Oak.
Filming will take place around the Beaminster area in the autumn. Excited Adam Nightingale, aged 12, is hoping this will be the start of a glittering film career. The Dorchester Middle School student said: “I’m really excited and hopeful.
“I’ve always had an interest in acting and films and I’d like to be an actor so I thought I would come along.
“I had to fill out a form and have my photo and measurements taken.”
n YOU can still put yourself forward by emailing a clear photo of yourself with your measurements and contact details, including mobile phone number, to email@example.com Parents can also send photos of their children to the same address with parents’ contact details.
