Updated: Rail fatality causes disruption on Waterloo line
6:02pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
RAIL passengers are facing delays this evening after a man was killed when he was hit by a freight train.
It happened between Winchester and Basingstoke in Hampshire on the Weymouth-Waterloo line.
The death, which is not being treated as suspicious, was reported to the British Transport Police (BTP) at 4.01pm this afternoon.
Although it happened up the line the incident is having a knock-on effect on rush-hour services.
South West Trains said London-bound lines are blocked. Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised at short notice.
Disruption is expected until 9pm.
