Coroner rules that father took his own life

A FATHER found hanged at his Weymouth home took his own life, a coroner has ruled.
An inquest at County Hall in Dorchester was told that Martin John Ball, 56, had not been seen for several days before his son Daniel – who lives in Oxfordshire – alerted police on May 1.
Officers forced their way into his home in Cunningham Close and discovered Mr Ball’s body hanging in the hallway.
PC Daniel Seall said in a statement: “I believed he was deceased and had been for a few days.”
Police were able to identify the deceased man as Mr Ball and found letters at the property as well as a printed document that appeared to be a will.
Dorset Coroner Sheriff Payne said: “On the basis of that information I therefore sadly have to come to the conclusion that he has taken his own life.”
After the inquest Mr Ball’s mother said: “I’m very sad it’s happened and very upset about it because he’s my baby.
“I cannot understand why he did it.”
