Super slim mum achieves weight loss goals by losing four stone
A DORCHESTER mum has achieved her weight loss goals thanks to a little help from her slimming friends.
Karen Major, 49, said she never would have achieved her weight loss dream if it hadn’t have been for her friends at her Slimming World class in the county town.
Karen has lost a total of four stone and half a pound and said she feels more confident and happier and it was her group that helped and inspired her.
She said: “I’d like to thank the people in the group that helped me – I couldn’t have done it without their support for sure.”
She added: “It’s a fantastic group.
“Without them it would never have happened.”
Her friends at the group were so proud of her they have nominated her for the national competition for Woman of the Year.
She said: “My weight has fluctuated since having children, but in 2008 I started gaining more weight – eating out, takeaways, snacking on chocolate, and my favourite, peanuts.
“Lack of exercise due to my injured knee all started taking its toll on me.
“Finally enough was enough and I plucked up the courage to join Slimming World.”
Karen started to lose weight but said she found it a struggle at times to keep going and stick to the eating plan.
She said: “Luckily support from my group leader Tracie and the group members was fantastic and I kept on with my weekly weighing, gaining and loosing and gaining again.”
But then an invitation to her nephew’s wedding arrived through the door and Karen said it gave her the determination to get back on to the plan.
By the time the wedding arrived she had lost three stone.
Even though she was facing a knee operation Karen started walking, at first for half a mile and built it up to eight miles.
Over two months she walked a total of 182 miles.
Karen said losing the weight had given her a new lease of life and she felt more confident.
She said: “I would just say to others like me – don’t give up.
“Believe in yourself and do it.”
