Roll out the barrel across Weymouth harbour for charity
FUNDRAISERS are to roll out the barrel for good causes.
The Dartmoor Barrel Challenge will see teams carry beer barrels across Dartmoor before rolling barrels past Weymouth harbour.
The fourth year of the annual barrel roll is on Sunday, September 15 at 4pm at Weymouth harbour.
Money will be raised for MV Freedom, a Weymouth boat for the disabled, and Help for Heroes.
Teams of five will carry barrels five and a half miles across Dartmoor in Devon, arriving at Riverdart Country Park where they will camp on September 13 and 14. On Sunday teams will be announced outside the King’s Arms pub in Weymouth from 2.30pm.
South Dorset MP Richard Drax will judge barrel rollers’ outfits and modes of transport.
Portland town crier Stuart Cave will be lending his voice to the proceedings.
The barrel roll starts at 4pm outside Brewer’s Quay and finishes at the King’s Arms.
During the day MV Freedom will be moored up outside the King’s Arms for people to come on board and have a look around.
Sheryl Lee will be singing at the King’s Arms from 5pm.
There will be a children’s tombola and raffle at 6pm, with prizes from local businesses.
