Richard Drax MP rambles to raise money for charity

SOUTH Dorset MP Richard Drax hiked his way across the Dorset coastline to raise thousands for local charities.
The sponsored charity effort, named ‘Richard’s Ramble’, took place from Swanage to Weymouth.
It raised a total of £2,827 for Weymouth-based charity MV Freedom and Swanage charities Impact and the Swanage DoE Awards.
The Weymouth charity takes wheelchair users and their carers on tours along the Jurassic coast.
Oz Avery, of MV Freedom, greeted the hikers at the end of the charity event along with the Impact van, which offered refreshments.
Mr Drax said: “I am delighted that we have managed to raise some funds for these wonderful and worthwhile charities, all of which change people’s lives for the better in South Dorset.
“It was sometimes hard going – but I enjoyed every single second. I would like to thank everyone who contributed, those who run these charities and of course, my fellow walkers.”
The two Swanage charities were chosen by Swanage Mayor Ali Patrick.
Lorna Haines and Mike Connington walked for Impact, which works with young people at weekend nights on Swanage streets and beaches while John Stuart and Paul Harley walked for the Swanage DoE Awards.
