COASTGUARDS were alerted to two boats suffering from engine failure and a stranded windsurfer.
At 10.23am yesterday, The Weymouth and Portland Sailing Acadamy Safety boat 'Juranus' responded to a call from Portland Coastguard to assist an 18ft bayliner that had suffered engine failure near Castletown, Portland Harbour, back to safety.
At just before 5pm yesterday, a 999 call was received from a stranded windsurfer on Brownsea Island, near Poole Harbour.
The wind had dropped and he was unable to sail. A radio broadcast by Portland coastguard requested assistance and a local rescue boat then took the windsurfer and his rig back to shore.
At just after midnight last night, 22ft vessel Sunseeker Baystar called the Police reporting engine failure off of Cobbs Quay in Holes Bay.
Cobbs Quay Marina patrol boat assisted the vessel back to their mooring at the marina.
