Dorset County Show hailed as success

ORGANISERS of the Dorset County Show say the weekend was a ‘resounding success’.
Show secretary Sam Mackenzie-Green said that although the final attendance figure had not yet been calculated all signs suggested it had been another bumper year after a record turnout of 60,000 in 2012.
She said: “Early indications show that the Dorset County Show 2013 was a resounding success. “We know Saturday was extremely busy – we had to negotiate use of extra land to act as an overflow car park. “However, we’re waiting for tou-rist offices around the county to come back to us with final figures on advance ticket sales before we can reveal exact numbers.”
Mrs Mackenzie-Green added that there had been positive feedback from traders after the two-day event, particularly those in the Dorset Food Hall, and the public feedback had also been ‘fantastic’.
She said: “We are incredibly grateful to our ever increasing band of loyal show visitors who act as ambassadors for us, particularly via our social media sites.”
New e-tickets were popular with 4,000 sold ahead of the show and Mrs Mackenzie-Green also reported that traffic arrangements put in place had seen no serious hold ups during the event.
