Accused pensioner takes to witness box to deny indecency allegations

A PENSIONER accused of performing acts of gross indecency with four young boys has taken to the witness box to deny the allegations.
Louis John Poyner, 86, denies six charges of indecency with a child with the alleged offences spanning a period of 17 years dating from 1975 to 1992.
He is accused of performing indecent acts with the boys on numerous occasions after inviting them into his allotment shed.
Poyner, of Love Lane, Weymouth, told the jury in his trial at Dorchester Crown Court that he had never had any indecent contact with any of the alleged victims.
He said he had never even let any of the boys into his shed and he did not even remember ever seeing two of them at the allotments.
When asked what reason all four alleged victims could have to make up the accusations against him, the defendant simply responded: “I don’t know.”
He later added: “I wouldn’t do it.” The case continues.
