COASTGUARD ROUND-UP: Coastguards aid pensioner in beach fall
COASTGUARDS helped a pensioner who fell on the beach and broke his arm.
They were called to Charmouth beach yesterday afternoon following a request for help from South Western Ambulance Service.
The 68-year-old man was seen to by paramedics and taken to Yeovil District Hospital by ambulance.
Portland Coastguard answered a 999 call from a fishing boat with two people aboard which suffered engine failure and had drifted out of the entrance to Poole Harbour.
A passing motor sailer and an exercising RNLI RIB attended the incident after the 1.46pm call yesterday.
The motor sailer towed the fishing boat Alliance back into the harbour yesterday lunchtime, where the crew was able to restart the engine and continue to their mooring.
A yacht sailing off Swanage contacted Portland Coastguard after losing contact with another yacht during a passage from Weymouth to the Solent.
Coastguards attempted to contact the Kushi yacht by radio yesterday morning but the vessels regained sight of each other and all was confirmed to be well.
