THOUSANDS of thrill-seekers headed to Bowleaze Cove for a day of fun.
Fantasy Island open day proved a hit with residents and holidaymakers, who made the most of the new rides and coffee bar.
Chris Simmons, one of the owners of Fantasy Island, said: “We were completely shocked at how many people turned up on the day. There were thousands.
The revamped destination was free for guests on its opening day to make residents aware of what is on offer in Bowleaze Cove.
New rides include a ghost train, go karts and an impressive ‘Fast and Furious’ ride.
Mr Simmons added: “So many people who came down didn’t realise what we had to offer here at Fantasy Island and in Bowleaze Cove. We hope it has put the area on the map.”
Youngsters made the most of the open day with the variety of rides for all ages and the play area.
Families also made the most of the day on rides including the spinning tea pot, big wheel, helter skelter, bumper cars and flying elephants.
