Forms needed to ensure a vote
1:00pm Tuesday 24th September 2013 in News
RESIDENTS are reminded to return their registration forms in time to vote in the next elections.
People living in the West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland council areas will get an annual household registration form through the door in October and November.
The forms need to be sent back to the district or borough council.
David Clarke, chief executive of West Dorset District Council and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, said: “Every household needs to fill in and return its annual household registration form to the district or borough council so the electoral registers can be put together.
“It is important your name does appear on the register to ensure that you can vote in any future elections.”
If the details printed on the form have not changed since last year then reply by email, phone or text and if changes need to be made, update the form and post it to the district or borough council in the pre-paid envelope.
Voters can also request that their details are excluded from the edited register so that they cannot be sold, or request to vote by post.
For more information, call West Dorset District Council on 01305 251010 or Weymouth and Portland Borough Council on 01305 838299.
