Piano and saxophone duo Illumine will be performing at a lunchtime concert at the Dorset County Museum from 1pm. Entry is free with a £3 donation encouraged.
Chairman of the Thomas Hardy Society Dr Tony Fincham will be looking at the landscape that inspired the Dorset writer in a lecture at the Dorset County Museum from 7.30pm. Entry is free with no need to book but a £3 donation is encouraged to cover costs.
Friday, September 27
The remarkable seamanship of William Bough of The Bounty will be discussed at a talk at Brownsword Hall in Poundbury.
Jasper Shackleton, a distant relative of Sir Earnest, will be at the hall from 7pm. Tickets cost £3.50 in advance and are available from Stitchinghouse Design in Pummery Square or Poundbury Garden Centre. On the night of the talk any available tickets will be sold on the door for £4.

The Dorchester Quakers are holding a Meeting for Worship in the Quiet Space in Poundbury. The event, which runs from 2pm to 2.30pm, is being held to mark Quaker Week and all are welcome to attend.

Monday, October 7
An exhibition telling the stories of African American GIs stationed in Dorset during the Second World War is coming to the Dorchester Arts Centre from Monday, October 7 to Friday, October 18.
The free exhibition will be on display from Monday, October 7 to Friday, October 18 from 10am to 4pm daily except Sundays.

Robert Hall from the Royal Holloway University of London will be giving a talk on tropical naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace at the Dorset County Museum from 7pm. Entry is free but a £3 donation is encouraged to cover costs.
Saturday, October 12
The Dorchester Arts Centre is hosting a performance of Floating, a one-woman show about a high dependency nurs, from 8pm.
