A MAN wept as he was acquitted of serious sexual offence allegations.
Martin Hodder was found not guilty on three counts of a serious sexual offence, two of which were alleged to have taken place in Bridport in the 1970s. The jury took two hours and 16 minutes to deliver its unanimous verdict.
The alleged victim had previously told Dorchester Crown Court he came forward after a report of a similar case in the Dorset Echo in 2011.
Hodder, aged 53 of Bell Road, Andover, Hants, had called the allegations ‘utter rubbish’.
He had said: “I never did it – simple as that.” He said he had never been to the spot where the Bridport incidents were alleged to have taken place.
